If they wouldn’t serve it to their family, they won’t sell it.
This a value that the owners, Derek and Jackie, over at Fraberts in Fergus pride themselves on. When you walk into Fraberts, you are greeted by not only an amazing staff experience, but also the knowledge that you are getting high quality groceries.
A local favourite for quality authentic food for the whole family. Whether you are looking for fresh fruits and veggies, locally grown and produced grocery items or homemade pizza, sandwiches and meals you will find it all in store.
Fraberts isn’t just groceries though, from catering options to pre-made meals to take home, they have it all. It’s easy to support, and shop local.
Even though Fraberts is a grocery store, they still felt the effects of the pandemic – like many businesses did here in Centre-Wellington and beyond.
While their retail sales were up – more people staying home, meant more food being consumed one could say – their catering sales went down. This was a direct effect to so many events and gatherings being either cancelled completely or the numbers being very limited.
As many businesses did, the owners realized they needed to pivot and adapt to a new business model in order to stay ahead of this curve. With that, the implementation of an online shop, and also the addition of delivery and curbside pickup services were offered.

Adding the simple feature of curbside pickup, meant that many of their customers were able to keep peace of mind when doing groceries and not worrying about the crowds etc.
Even as things have started to return to a somewhat normal way of life, the additions they made are still here – as it was something we as a community never knew we needed or wanted until we had it.
When asked why it was so important to shop locally, Jackie had this to say:
It helps to keep our downtowns vibrant, provide diversity and choice for our community. It provides local employment, and you are able to support businesses that in turn support local community initiatives
